Adult Treatment

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. Braces aren’t just for kids anymore. In our office many parents have been so impressed with the changes they have seen in their own children that they have decided to pursue orthodontic treatment for themselves. It’s your time now to do something for yourself!  You may have been recommended to have braces when you were a teenager but for some reason were not able to pursue orthodontic treatment at that time. It’s not too late! Orthodontic treatment as an adult can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal tooth wear and loss of enamel on the tooth surfaces, even headaches and sometimes jaw joint (TMJ) pain. Also, with the improvements in cosmetic dentistry, many times an orthodontist needs to realign the teeth before the dentist is able to place that ideal crown or veneer. The Good News is, the new techniques and appliances that we use greatly reduce the discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time in many cases, and may allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include traditional metal braces which are now much smaller than ever, translucent (clear) braces that are very difficult to see even up close, transparent aligners that can improve mild cases of misaligned teeth, and removable retainers. Since adults are not growing, severe bite problems that are due to misaligned jaw structures may require orthognathic (jaw) surgery.

Your general dentist may have recommended orthodontic treatment to improve the fit and function of your teeth and jaws, or you may have always wanted to improve the look of your smile for years. Either way, Dr.Klomparens would welcome the opportunity to visit with you about the benefits of orthodontic treatment! It’s never too late to improve your greatest asset – your smile and how you feel about yourself.
